My husband was just in an accident. A man backed up into our car in the city. He got a police report. The man wants to pay us without going through his insurance. We of course need and estimate which we can’t get until Monday. So if he does not want to pay can we still submit a claim?
This just in! The police advised him against the report as they said our insurance would go up (ny) even though it was not our fault. Now what?

If I’ve had a couple of accidents in years past, currently pay about 1,200/year for geico. I just had a very minor fender bender in which I sustained no damage but the other car (a BMW) got 2 scratches on the rear. How much can I expect my insurance rates to go up when this is all reported?

My car was damaged. The other vehicle was at fault. A claim has been started but the other insurance company has yet to send someone to inspect the vehicle after 1 week. I have left messages with the adjuster. No return.

i was in an accident today, i hit someone from behind, therefore it is automatically my fault….even though they stopped out of nowhere!

I was involved in a car accident last year. The other party filed a claim against me last week . I switched auto insurance company in May this year. When seeking legal assistance, should i reach my prior auto insurance company or the current one?

I live in texas and a year ago, rear ended a vehicle in a low speed accident. They made a claim, but I did not. My insurance rates did not go up.

Today, I was hit from behind on the ice. The vehicle, a jeep, drove away as I was trying to gain traction and right my vehicle to avoid another collision. I did not get their license plate.

I have no choice but to file with my insurance company. Will my auto rates go up? And would it have been any different if my vehicle had been hit in a parking lot without my being there?

Hello – I was involved in an auto-accident in March of 2006 in which both insurance companies (mine and hers) agreed that it was the other party’s fault and I was a zero-liability. Their insurance company (let’s call them “Venus”, of ease) has asked for receipts ($1000 in rentals which my coverage does not cover), my deductible amount and any other amount which I had to put out (total is about $1,700). I have waited since April for them to pay me. I get letters from “Venus” every other week saying they are “pending further investigation” – but, I am at wits-end and want my money which I had to pay-out for an accident that everyone acknowledges is not my fault.

Does anyone know what the law/rules are in California and how long they can take to pay after they find the other party is at fault? Also, what can I word in a strongly worded letter to get this finally paid. I dont want to hire lawyer for such a low amount – but, that extra 1700 sure would be nice at the moment. Thanks! Chris
BTW, Ive called, faxed and sent letters – I just get the same “pending investigation” BS.
My insurance company is waiting to get paid out also for all the damages. I just wonder if there is some statute that I can cite in a certified letter to them which demands they pay the 1700 now. Otherwise, my own insurance says to take them to Small Claims – and, who has time for that? I’ve called, faxed, emailed – you name it – but, I just want to cite some law and need help with a strongly worded approach to make them pay this . It will be a year in March/April since they’ve accepted liability for their client’s fault.

My boyfriends mom is making him get his own auto insurance because she doesn’t like him driving on CA-17. Would her auto insurance, as in the insurance that it costs to cover her car, go up if he got in an accident in his car that is under his name on her insurance policy?

I let my auto insurance lapse 1 month, because I didn’t have the money for my premium. I just want to know if there is light at the end of this tunnel. I know it was very irresponsible of me, but I am the only income for my wife and 3 kids under 6yrs old. I’m just looking for some hope.
